I'm looking at a 2006 hayabusa for sale in the states and am wondering what i would have to do to register and ride it here in Canada?

  1. Visit www.riv.ca, it will tell you all about it

in a nutshell, you need to follow these steps...

1 get a recalls clearance letter from the US division of the manufacturer (a dealer isn't good enough, must be from the manufacturer)

2 check its admissability, riv has a list, it has to be on it, if it ain't there, you're outta luck

3 notify the us side of the border you intend to come home with it through 72 hours in advance and fax them the title

4 go buy your bike and stop at the us side for them to check the bike

5 pay the canada side $195+gst (or take the form with you and pay them online by credit card... this is actually faster for the inspection process later on) for the riv fee and the gst on your purchase price

6 you get an inspection form at home by mail or email.. depends how you paid riv... and you go for a fed inspection at canadian tire (it's no extra charge)

7 do whatever your province requires and you're done

  2. The warranty won't transfer if it has one.
