How to I import my camcorder clips to iMovies?

It's a JVC GZ-MG135 (I think it's called Enerio G series) and I am using a macbook. I have a USB cable.

I have tried to open files when it's connected but it says it's not a movie file. How to I upload? I can't seem to find any information anywhere!

  1. What version of Mac OS are you running? It seems odd that it tells you that  since that camera record video onto MPEG 2 format which the current version of iMovie  supports this format.

Therefore the only think I could think of is an old version. I would first run the softare update to see if there is an update to iLife that you missed and install it. After that try againg. If this doesn't work try first copying the files to your computer before importing them to iMovie. Maybe you already tried this if you haven't give it a whirl. If that doesn't work then buy a Firewire cable and use that instead of the USB one. That cable costs around 30 bucks in Best Buy or Wal-Mart. I don't work with iMovie a lot but maybe with the firewire cable iMovie will recognize the camera and you can than capture the video instead of importing it. That is recording it to you computer while is playing from the camera. Is a longer process but it will get the video into your computer. Make sure that the firewire is big on one end and small in the other because the Macbook will have a big firewire port and the camera most likely a small one.

    hope this helps
