I've installed the supplied software, and the video files I wanted have been imported onto my computer. however, the files are saved in the .mt2s file format, and can't be played in any applications other than the Sony ones. How can I change the file format, or import them onto the computer using a different file format?

  1. The Sony HSR-SR1 is a hard drive based camcorder that captures AVCHD compressed video. You need a video editor that can deal with that format.

Windows MovieMaker cannot. Be aware that not all video editors claiming AVCHD compatibility can deal with AVCHD from all camcorders.

Sony Vegas can deal with the SR1's AVCHD... http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/prod...

Your other option is to get an Analog/Digital bridge like those from Pinnacle

    or Canopus

and connect the camera to them with the camcorder's AV cables... but this will be analog and not highly compressed high definition video.
