  1. free Windows Movie Maker (Vista-wmm6)

    Steps:

    CAPTURE VIDEO:  video stream from webcam

    a.) Connect webcam to pc via USB.

    c.) Open wmm and set to TASKS pane

    c.) Click Capture from video device; wmm  controls webcam operations- on play, video stream is captured to wmm/COLLECTION

    EDIT MOVIE:  create movie as a project

    d.) Drag&drop captured video files from collection to TIMELINE chart below at the desired sequence

    FINISH MOVIE: render muvee file

    e.) Render/Save MUVEE to pc and/ or share- burn CD


  2. Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port. Your camcorder came with a dv cord( used for download video and a  USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder.
