Impossible, spooky phone call from mum or ghost?

I have a weird thing that happened to me that I've been wondering about for years. I wanna know what you all think?

When I was 15 in 2000. My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. She went into hospital not long after to have the lump and lymph gland removed. My step dad went with her and I stayed at home with my grand-parents. She recovered FULLY and has been clear ever since.

Now while they were at the hospital my mobile phone rang and I didn't get to it in time. When I read the missed call I saw it said 'MUM MOB'. I thought it was my step-dad just letting me know how she was getting on. But when I went into the kitchen to let my grand-parents know I saw that my mums mobile was hanging up on our key hook. There is NO possiblilty that it could of been my grand-parents coz they wouldn't have a clue.

I don't understand how this happened.

Maybe this was something letting me know she was ok or a ghost, lol!

  1. a demon parading as an heavenly spirit was jerking your chain.

  2. faulty phone?

my phone decides to call people on it's own

i will have it on the desk next to me, and it will start to dial people, usually the last person i called

  3. Aye right

  4. Does Mob mean she is okay, ie Mum Mob=Mom ok?  I guess I don't understand why you would attach paranormal significance to this experience.  Why would a ghost need to use the phone to get in touch with you?

  5. well this happens rarely. right after my moms grandmother died she and all her siblings got a phone call from their grandmother saying goodbye, i love u. i believe in ghostly phenomenons because one time while at my grandpas house, after he passed away, we were moving stuff around and my cousin found an old tub of cheese, my grandma said not to throw it away because it was lucky to him and he had it for around 10 years but she threw it away anyway and as soon as it hit the garbage can the lights in the house flickered on and off.

  6. Perhaps the phone rang and because would have been thinking about your Mum and hoping to hear that she was okay you misread 'Tom mob' as 'Mum mob'?

I wonder with Pooh's story about the nanny if the time difference between the two countries could be an explanation as to what happened there? The brother said something like 'she died at 10pm' but the sister had received the call at 11pm and forgot to take into account the difference between the time zones.

  7. hmmm...that is pretty, wierd.. lol, hmm maybe you made bad contacts with the ghost...lol!

i realy donno its kinda...freaky lol

  8. I read a book by a man called Konstantinos called Speaking with the Dead.  In it he lists several ways to communicate with spirits.  I read it  because it had a lot of info on EVP in it.  I have been able to duplicate the things he says about EVP in his book, so I tend  to quote him at times.  I did not like every idea he had in there, but for EVP he was right on.  Anyway, he also talks about getting phone calls from the dead.   Since then, my neighbors husband died of cancer in 2006.  He died at home.  Two days after his death, every phone in the house, including cell phones rang at the same time.  When answered no one was there.  Then the phones took turns ringing, again with no one there.  His wife believes it was her husband.  This incidence has not happened again.  While I can not say what caused it, there is the possibility that it was paranormal in nature.

  9. Woah, thats really wierd, maybe someone was trying to get in contact with you using your moms phone, ie a spirit trying to give you a sign your mom was ok

    Im not sure

Im glad your moms ok though

  10. I would look at the last number that contacted your phone.  That might give you a clue.  Sounds off handed like a wrong number to me.

I am happy to hear that your Mom is doing well and fully recovered.

  11. I had the same kind of experience, kind of. My mother passed away from cancer in 1984. I was home on leave from the service. I was staying at my brothers house when the phone rang. It was my mother, I freaked so bad I hung up. She called again the next day. I hung on for as long as I could, she just wanted to tell me that she was alright and that not to worry as she was in a good place. All I could do was mutter that I loved her on the phone. She never called again. This is the first time I have ever related this story to anyone. There is more in this world than we can ever hope to understand.

  12. A number of different things could have happened here, none of which are ghostly.

1.) Your missed call really wasn't your mum's mobile but you misread it.

2.) Your phone misinterpreted a different incoming call as your mum's mobile.

3.) Your grandparents really were playing with the phone and dialed you by mistake.

Those are possibilities that immediately come to mind.

  13. This isnt an unheard of phenomena.  I have a friend who was brought up by nannies - as was the way in their sphere of life.

This is going back many years.  She had married for the second time and was on honeymoon in italy.  Her nanny had stayed with the family and looked after her own children but had recently become ill and frail.  The phone rang in their hotel suite and she answered the call.  It was her nanny telling her that she was feeling better and that she was alright.

A short while after she received a call from her brother telling her that nanny had passed away that morning and they had been debating whether or not to tell her and had finally decided they should.  But she had spoken to 'nanny' just half an hour before - some ten hours after she had died.

Maybe your mother was trying to tell you that she was fine and would be coming home.
