China has produced a variety of badminton players over the years and has become the dominating force in this game throughout the world. The World No 3 Chinese player Lin Dan is one of the most celebrated players in the entire history of the game. He has won all major events in the world of badminton. Right now, he is Olympic champion and three times world champion. The top seeded player shows no sign of slow down in his achievements as he is still regarded as the best shuttler on the planet.
The 27-year-old star emerged at the international arena in 2001. However, he managed to make his presence felt in 2002 when he won his first major event - Korea Open 2002. In the following year, he booked three titles - Denmark Open 2003, Hong Kong Open 2003 and China Open 2003. Next year, Lin continued his winning performance and won five titles including Swiss Open, the coveted All England Open, Denmark Open, German Open and China Open.
Lin Dan maintained his level of performance in 2005 and grabbed five more titles. These titles were German Open, Japan Open, China Masters, Hong Kong Open and World Cup. The year 2006 brought even more amazing success for the incredible athlete as he became the World Champion this year. He won seven titles in 2006 including All England Open, Chinese Taipei Open, Macau Open, Hong Kong Open, World Championships and the World Cup.
The year 2007 also proved to be a great success for this crouching tiger of China. He clinched Korea Open, German Open, All England Open, China Masters, Denmark Open and Hong Kong Open. In the same year, he also won the second consecutive title in the World Championships. In 2008, his dream came true when he won the gold medal in Beijing Olympics by beating the Malaysia shuttler Lee Chong Wei. In the same year, he also grasped Swiss Open, Thailand Open and China Open.
Lin continued his superb run in 2009 when the badminton giant won the grand event of All England Open. Then he retained his World Championships 2009 crown and became the first player in badminton history who won the men’s singles world championships title for three consecutive times. In the same year, he also proved his supremacy in the events of China Masters, French Open and China Open.
Lin Dan won Asian Games 2010 crown, the only missing title in his achievements. He also won Badminton Asia Championships and China Masters in 2010.
The start of 2011 was somewhat fluctuating for this invincible shuttler as he got an injury and could not do well in the Malaysia Open Super Series event. However, just a few days later, the aggressive Chinese made a comeback in his usual form and claimed the 2011 Korea Open Super Series Premier title against the world No. 1 Malaysian shuttler Lee Chong Wei.
Great Lin Dan, who ruled the badminton game for the last one decade, has expressed his intention to clinch more titles in his professional career. He married with his girlfriend Xie Xingfang, who also has been a badminton World Champion. After his marriage, Lin won his first title in Korea Open Super Series Premier 2011. The amazing Chinese player is rightly considered as the most celebrated and successful player of the badminton history.
