pretty impressive to pitch 38 consecutive scoreless innings as is, but do so right at the beginning of your MLB career is simply amazing to me. i know it may be just cause im an a's fan, but seriously you have to give the guy respect for doing that as a rookie.

  1. When you consider the guy is a 28-year old rookie finally getting a shot, it boggles the mind. I'll bet this guy wasn't a can't-miss prospect that blew people away in the minors.  so to see him come in and dominate major league hitters from Day 1 is very impressive. I'd love to see him extend. I'd love to see him extend his streak for at least another 21 and `1/3 innings and knock Hershiser out of the reocrd books.

  2. that's true, you don't just expect a rookie pitcher to come out and do something like that. even though im a Rangers fan and i'm severely Anti-A's, Angels, and Mariners, i have to say he was pretty amazing. especially while having no major league experience before that.

  3. I am very impressed. I wish i could watch this guy but on my tv i only get the yankees and mets and they dont play the a's anytime soon i think. The record is 59 so he would break the record if he did that and it would be all over the news

  4. I think it's great because he totally revamped his motion to try and save his career and it has worked out so well for him. Sometimes he blogs on the Athletics Nation website and comes across as a pretty good guy.

  5. You said it all.

38 innings anytime is noteworthy.  If he keeps it up a bit longer we have to start considering Hersheiser's record.  I think it is 60 or so.

  6. Has the streak been broken yet? If not he is very close to Orel Hershiser's record of 59 2/3 of Consecutive scoreless innings pitched.

I totally have respect for the guy.

  7. It's an amazing record and he deserves it completely. Keep it up Ziegler.
