Is he showing himself to be the real deal in your opinion?

And do you think He should stay as a reliever or try to work his way into the Starting lineup?

Personally... I like him where he is at..I think the Cubs are just fine with Starters...and by only having to pitch a few innings...he can really open it up ALL the way.

  1. well ever since he got to triple-A he has been very impressive and has been great in the early going of his major league career. i can't say he is the real deal yet, tho. i think he will eventually be worked in as a starter, possibly even as soon as next season. I always say that a reliever is just a starting pitcher that failed to cut it in that role and had no other choice. we haven't seen him pitch as a starter yet, so i want to see him like that before i say he should be in the bullpen. maybe if the cubs clinch the division sometime in late september, they might have samardzija make a start to see what he has for 5 or 6 innings or so.

  2. I dont think anyone is the real deal until they have one FULL MLB season of good pitching. Samardzija has what like 2 weeks under his belt?

I learned this the hard way from Kennedy and Hughes.....

I can see him becoming the closer next year if Wood leaves....but you never know!

  3. i seen him pitch a couple times and i was actualy impressed on how hard he throws, i saw his debut, where he had a shaky inning but came back for his second innina and did a great job....so,i think he has shown enough to stay in the majors....

  4. i think it's way too early to judge him...he's shown that he has good stuff for sure, but let's wait to find out what happens next year, when maybe he can win a spot in the bullpen on opening day

  5. For the future?  Relief hopefully.  Hopefully, because some billionaire (Mark Cuban) hopefully buys the Cubs and gets CC.

  6. I think he's fine where he's at. Someday he might top Marquis and move to starter, but for now, he's good. I think he's a great addition to the Cubs because with Wood getting hurt, he can fill in. I think he could be a reliever or a closer. He's got an ERA of less than 2! <- amazing! Overall- he's a great addition to a potential W.S. winning team! Hope I helped! :)

  7. personally he should be in the NFL LOL GO FIGHTING IRISH!

  8. I think he should go back to playing football.

  9. I'm impressed w/ him, i'm not nearly as impressed w/ the Cubbies starting 5..... I'm not saying any names but his name starts with Jason Marquis. I think Lou should work Marshall in this year & maybe let Samardzija fight for a spot in Spring Training.

I'm going to the Cubs Convention in January!

  10. Yeah, I'm impressed, but it's only been a couple weeks. He's still a rookie, and until he gets a full MLB season under his belt, I'm not going to be convinced.

Yes! Absolutely he needs to stay being a reliever. They're stacked with their rotation the way it is right now, depending on how Lilly and Marquis pitch. Marshall provides some long relief, but it's been down to Marmol, Wood, and sometimes Eyre to keep leads. Howry has been way too inconsistent this year. You said it yourself, by only having him go a couple innings, he can really let loose and go after hitters.

  11. they need to play a whole season

  12. i think he is the real deal.  stuff wise he is definitley the real deal.  The other componet is poise which he has shown he has weather it be pitching in a pressure situation in front of the 40,000 at wrigley who will boo if dissatisfied, or playing in front of 100,000 and on national tv at notre dame. and he just always has great composure on the mound

Also for this season just keep him in the bullpen which i think makes in one of the best in baseball with wood marmol and samardjia plus howry gaudin and cotts

I think next year they will probabally move him into the rotation in spring training but for this year h**l be in the bullpen

    GO CUBS

  13. im very impressed with him he sucked in the minors and he is better in the majors and he hasnt shown enought yet there still more baseball

  14. he has shown that he is still a rookie with much to learn by trying to blow a fastball by Albert Pujols. Once there is a scouting report on him, it will be easier to hit him.
