Impressive performances at the Santa Clara International Invitational 2011 - Day two
Day two of the 2011 Santa Clara International Invitational started in convincing manner with the impressive swim of Rebecca Soni of Trojan in the Women’s 200m breast-stroke meet, as she nabbed the race with a triumphant time of 2 minutes and 23.38 seconds
in Santa Clara, California, last week.
Placed second in the corresponding race was Amanda Beard of Tucson Ford with a time of 2 minutes and 27.53 seconds, while Micah Lawrence of SwimMAC wound up third in a time of 2 minutes and 28.84 seconds.
In the Men’s 100m freestyle event, Tae Hwan Park of South Korea won the golden crown with a winning time of 48.92 seconds and improved to 23rd spot in the world rankings. Michael Phelps of NBAC picked up second spot in the respective race with
a time of 49.61 seconds, while Graeme Moore of California finished third in a time of 49.70 seconds.
In the Men’s 100m butterfly race, American swimmer, Michael Fred Phelps picked up the top seed with a sterling time of 52.41 seconds. Securing second spot in that race was Nick D’Arcy of Australia with a time of 53.34 seconds and Davis Tarwater of SwimMAC
wound up third in a time of 53.83 seconds.
On the other hand, South Korean swimmer, Tae Hwan Park won the Men’s 400m freestyle title with a fastest time of 3 minutes and 44.99 seconds and improved to 3rd place in the international swimming rankings. Ryan Cochrane earned second spot in 3 minutes
and 50.05 seconds for his 17th position, while Napoleon wound up third in 3 minutes and 50.12 seconds.
In the Women’s 100m freestyle, Missy Franklin of Colorado Stars captured the golden crown with a victorious time of 54.33 seconds, while Amanda Weir of SwimAtlanta was placed second in 54.61 seconds. Jessica Hardy of Trojan settled third in the respective
meet with a time of 54.73 seconds.
Finally, Eric Shanteau of Trojan clinched the Men’s 200m breast-stroke race with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 13.52 seconds. Brendan Hansen of Longhorn was placed second in 2 minutes and 14.56 seconds, while Scott Dickens of Canada wound up third in
a time of 2 minutes and 15.75 seconds.
