Impressive splash of Federica Pellegrini and Hwan Tae Park at the 2011 FINA World Championships
Federica Pellegrini and Hwan Tae Park impressed the arena at the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China. The session of the championships conducted the Women’s and Men’s 400m freestyle finals, where both Pellegrini and Park secured gold medals,
respectively.
Firstly, Federica Pellegrini of Italy hit the wall in 4 minutes and 01.97 seconds to clinch the Women’s 400m freestyle crown. Previously, Federica picked two gold medals in the Women’s 200m and 400m freestyle meet at the 2009 edition of the championships,
in Rome. Besides, she captured the gold medal in the Women’s 200m freestyle final at the 2008 Olympics, in Beijing.
Meanwhile, Great Britain’s Rebecca Adlington snagged silver medal on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 4 minutes and 04.01 seconds. After the race, Adlington stated, “I'm so pleased with that swim after this morning. I was quite down after my
heat as I didn't expect to swim so slowly but I picked myself up and that was so much more positive tonight.”
In the meantime, Camille Muffat of France snared the bronze medal in the platform by posting a time of 4 minutes and 04.06 seconds and Kylie Palmer of Australia was placed fourth by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 04.62 seconds.
Lotte Friis of Denmark finished fifth in a time of 4 minutes and 04.68 seconds, while Lauren Boyle of New Zealand was placed sixth in 4 minutes and 06.11 seconds. Kathryn Hoff of United States was placed seventh in 4 minutes and 08.22 seconds and Melania
Schmid Costa of Spain earned eighth spot in 4 minutes and 09.66 seconds.
On the other hand, Hwan Tae Park hit the wall in 3 minutes and 42.04 seconds to win the Men’s 400m freestyle title. Yang Sun of China picked the silver crown on the podium by submitting a time of 3 minutes and 43.24 seconds. After retaining the silver title
in the corresponding splash, Sun was pleased with his performance at the World Championships.
Paul Biedermann of Germany snared the bronze medal in the platform by posting a time of 3 minutes and 44.14 seconds. United States’ Peter Vanderkaay finished fourth in 3 minutes and 44.83 seconds, while Ryan Cochrane of Canada settled fifth in a time of
3 minutes and 45.17 seconds. Yannick Agnel of France earned sixth spot in a time of 3 minutes and 45.24 seconds.
Last, but not the least, Oussama Mellouli wound up seventh in 3 minutes and 45.31 seconds, while Sebastien Rouault of France was placed eighth with a time of 3 minutes and 47.66 seconds.
