Question:

Improving at Chess?

I've recently started to play chess. I feel like I'm picking it up fairly well, but I fall for traps a lot because I have a hard time keeping track of everything that is going on during the game. Is there a way that I can improve my "Chess Vision" so that I can keep track of strategies and traps?

  1. This site is free and doesn't suck entirely.:)

  2. Before u take ur turn THINK: Why did my opponent play where they did.

  3. There are several things I think you should do:

read some special literature, it can be either books or articles.

Then define, what your weak point is and train it, for example, with some chess program. When i felt, that my strategy is real disaster, i bought program Strategy 2.0 and trained strategy skills again and again. Look here, there are lot of different programs for any case

And the last point is of course practise. The more you play, the better you are. Somebody like playing with programs, as for me, i prefer playing  with people, it's more funny and brought me more  experience.

You can play here at yahoo or at some other site. i like this one:

or google for some other, that you'll like

    Good luck!:)

  4. practice, a good program to buy is chessmaster.

  5. Here are two tips for you. Remember that you want to control the center of the board. The more of the center that you control with your pieces the more strong you become.

Also, knights are very valuable. Get them out in the center of the board so that they can be used to their full potential. They lose a lot of power by sitting off to the sides.

Also, check into getting chessmaster. They have some awesome tutorials!

  6. Get you a chess coach or go online for a tutorial. I hope that helps.
