  1. Probably not.  Modifications to a car are turn off's for the average consumer.  It's a sign that stuff have been changed, and that the car may not be as reliable as stock.

When buying a used car, would you be willing to pay more for something that the previous owner added?  What if you already had plans on upgrading the radio?  What if you hate the manufacturer of the touchscreen dvd, and you'll want to replace it with another model?

When selling a car, you should always return it to stock, and then sell your aftermarket parts on their own.

The only thing that will increase is your insurance claim if your car is ever stolen.  The value of your car will decrease.

Cars are not an investment like a house is.  If you add to a house, its value will go up.  The value of a car always goes down...and aftermarket parts help it drop quicker.

  2. It depends on the person who is buying it if the buyer is just looking for a car do drive daily he'll pay a fair amount of money but if the buyer likes audio he'll pay a bit more than a daily driver.

  3. nope

    never get your money back.

  4. Private party? -- Maybe, depending on the buyer. If your car isn't worth much to begin with, I wouldn't spend the money on it. You won't see the return.

Trade-in? -- Nope. Book value is book value, and no electronics will up the value.

  5. No, you almost never get your money back on after market accessories. People don't buy cars because they have nice stereos.  They buy car with low miles that are well taken care of.

  6. I see this all the time.  Somebody goes out and tricks out their vehicle with thousands of dollars worth of aftermarket add ons, hoping that their vehicle's value will increase by that amount or more.  Unfortunately, the book value does not take into consideration the purchase price of those nifty add ons.  A CD player you may have paid $350 for installed may increase the book value of the car $100 or less.  Running boards on a truck that you paid $750 for because they were fiberglass. painted to match, and have cool lights?  Book value: $200.  That $600 grill guard?  $50.  It is sad but true.  Accessories are never worth the cost at resale time - even if those accessories were installed just one week (or even one DAY) prior to resale.

  7. It shouldnt really, but i reckon it will.

  8. Yes, but usually not for as much as you will spend putting the new system in.  Unless the stock CD player is not working I would leave it alone.  If the CD player is not working go with a basic aftermarket CD player (cheap), but don't go crazy.

You may see a $200-$300 increase in "used value" with the DVD upgrade, but what will it cost for the unit and installation???

  9. No.

You will never get back what you paid for it, as the parts/mods depreciate along with the rest of the car.
