Improving my hamster's home Good or Bad??

Yesterday, Aug. 1st, was my birthday and I asked everyone I knew to give me money. I finnally earned enough to buy Fiesty (my hamster) a new cage. I had crittertrail z and bought her crittertrail 2 which has a lot more space. Fiesty seems nervous about the cage but you know it's only been 2 days. I think that giving her more time to adjust to her new cage will stop her nervousness about it. I hope that she likes this cage because it cost a lot of money, and her old cage broke when trying to put it in a box. She really needed a new cage so thats why I bought her this one. But I feel bad because usually she makes a nest in the ball that comes with crittertrail z but in crittertrail 2 for some reason she makes it in the corner. There are two WONDERFUL places where she can make the nest and I have tried to move her and make the nest for her but she just stays in the corner. If you answer this in your answer I want to know what you think. Do you think that buying the new hamsters cage was a good idea and all Fiesty needs is some time to adjust to her new home?Or do you think that buying the new home was a mistake and Fiesty is not happy?

  1. Nah, it just takes some time to get comfy. All of mine sleep in weird places anyway. I can give them igloos and they sleep under their wheels, etc. If she likes the corner, then let her stay there. (I've got about 6 that prefer the corner to any other location :P) Soon it'll smell like her & not foreign, she'll have some nice food stashes, & it'll be home. ^_^

  2. well happy b-day mm  wel you should ahev changed the cage slowly.  and i would put her back in her old age and the slowly and the new stuff and then move her in to her new cage with her new stuff oh and my b-day was yesterday too

  3. I think it was a great idea to give Fiesty the bigger cage. Crittertrail X is not the right cage for syrian hamsters since it is too small and congested.

Your hamster is still new to her new cage, she would take some time to get used to the cage. Hamsters are creatures of habit and always take some time to get used anything new in their lifestyle. Once she is familiar with her surroundings and the new smells of her new cage, she would start exploring and discover the various benefits in the cage.

I am sure within the next one week, she would be up and running in her new big cage. To encourage her to use that wonderful nest area you are mentioning, you can take the bedding from the corner where she makes her nest and put it in that new nest area. Also place a few treats there and she would be encourage to go there and check out the place. Anyways, I am sure within a week, she would by herself check it out and settle in a cosy nest area.

  4. yes it's a good idea Fiesty just need some time to know the new cage that's all, my hamsters move their nest very frequently, some time you see them at this corner and the other day it's somewhere else. as long as they eat, drink, poo, pee, and sleep you really don't need to worry about them.

  5. It's always hard for a hamster to adjust to a new cage.  But i think she will, and if it has more space that even better =3

anyways,  Good luck.  Anything giving your hamster more space is good.  Im sure she'll love her new cage more in a week or so.  It wass very nice of you to spend birthday $ on your hammy!

  6. I think it would be a good idea to leave your hamster adjust, and she will probably act like she used to. Also I think because your hamster is making her so called "nests" in a different area, is just because it might be nicer,or  once again just let her adjust and everything will be ok!!!
