Question:

Improving sprint times.. for track and field.?

i'm on the track team.. this was my first year on varsity...i'm in nineth grade.. so for next year i want to be starting on the line.

i would like to improve alot... any tips?

  1. I would run as often as possible. Once every day. Don't just run on the track either, try out hills and stuff. Even better: enter into long distance races.

    And obviously you should spend about 50% of your work out days on the track, since that is your area of expertise.

Well, what do you run?  If you run the 100m, I would try to get your start(with blocks or not), because that's actually one of the biggest things for that event.  That start determens how straight your running is, but the speed is also crusical.  If you run a distance sprint, like the 400m, the curve on the track is very important.  You need to lean your body inward and stretch your legs out so that you can gain more ground, with less strength being wasted.  And you should do something similiar about that with the 200 m. dash.
