Impulse J = delta P is this analogous to displacement D = delta R (position vector)?

I need to know if I'm correctly making an analogy

A change in momentum (P_sub_f minus P_sub_i) = J

A change in position (R_sub_f minus R_sub_i) = D

  1. probably not.

an impulse applied to a body will result in a change in momemtum.

a displacement applied to a point will result in a change in position.

they look very similar. But the former will result in a change in energy whilst the latter will not.
