Former bowling greats of Pakistan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Khan-c64237 and Wasim Akram have advised the Pakistan team to play four specialist bowlers in their second World Cup game against Sri Lanka on Saturday.
The former pacers feel that the Subcontinent conditions are such that it is vital to have a strong attack even if it costs the side a batsman.
“I would prefer to go in with at least six bowlers, four of them specialists because matches are only won by taking wickets,” said the World Cup winning captain of Pakistan, Imran Khan.
The cricketer-turned-politician praised Pakistan team for their convincing 205-run win against tournament minnows, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752. Imran said that the colossal victory would undoubtedly boost the confidence of the side after they went through a lot
of controversies in the recent past. However, he urged the team management to decide on how to balance their playing eleven and the bowling attack against the World Cup favourites http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
“...playing just three specialist bowlers and depending on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Razzaq-c41623 to share the new ball and then on two all-round spinners is a risky tactic for me in these conditions where pitches favor the batsmen,” said the legendary all-rounder
while talking to a leading sports channel of Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan must play at least four specialist bowlers even if they have to drop one batsman.
Imran Khan, who led Pakistan to their solitary World Cup title in 1992, feels Pakistan can easily make to the knockout stage and the real contest will start in the quarterfinals. The legendary pacer urged the Pakistan team management to
finalise its playing eleven before the knockout stage.
Another former skipper and legendary pacer of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 and Waqar Younis and asked them to play four specialist bowlers
in their next game. Moreover, he urged them to use http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Akhtar-c90080 as a wicket-taking bowler along with a specialist spinner.
The left-hander proposed some changes in the batting order of Pakistan as well. He wants wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898.
He also suggested the team management to move hard-hitting batsman Abdul Razzaq up the order as coming at number eight does not provide him with enough overs to make an impact.
