http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-c64193 Khan asserts Pakistan should drop Umar Akmal if found guilty – ICC World Cup 2011
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 that was played
on Monday, 14 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
According to reports from various sources Umar Akmal faked a finger injury in order to save his brother Kamran Akmal, who might have been dropped from playing XI had Umar been fully fit. The right-hand batsman was benched for the match while
his brother Kamran was given another chance to as wicket-keeper.
Kamran Akmal previously had a below average game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754. He dropped a number of catches that should have been regulation catches. He also did not perform too well with the bat. This led to Pakistan losing the match in an uncharacteristic
fashion. After the match, the wicket-keeper was scrutinized by the media and management was looking for his replacement. Since Umar was injured, they decided to give him another go.
Imran concludes that he was un-aware of the original position and said, “But if these reports are true about any player faking an injury or showing attitude then the management and board must have no doubt on what needs to be done.”
Khan affirmed, “I don't know if the reports coming out of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 are correct or not but if they are correct then such players need to be dropped from the team immediately and never be allowed to play for Pakistan again.”
The man who led Pakistan to the 1992 World Cup victory said that his ideology was based on one simple rule and he conveyed that to every player under his command. He had the back of selectors and the board.
Khan said that during his captaincy reign he conveyed the message to players that any player playing for his own interest has no place in the Pakistan cricket team. Those who want to play in the national team should work hard, otherwise
they should stay out of the team.
The former captain also criticized cricketing bodies regarding match fixing scandals. According to the all-rounder, cricket fans are doubtful that a match was fixed every time a match has a close finish. It hurts the former cricketer that
cricket had lost its credibility and he believes it has adversely affected the game as well.
The men-in-green will play against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Saturday, 19 March. Both teams have qualified for knock-out phase but this match is important as the winner may end up at the top of Group-A and will face a
weaker team from Group-B in knock-out phase.
Pakistan’s coach Waqar Younis wants his team members to focus on this match. He postulates that if his side defeats the defending champions then their moral will be boosted and they will be able to compete with any team.
