Imran Khan believes the Indian team is vulnerable due to their bowling – ICC World Cup 2011 Update
The legendary Pakistani cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Khan-c64237 believes that the Indian team’s bowling is their weak link. The men-in-blue lack options and variations in their bowling and this will haunt them in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2011.
The Indian batsmen piled up huge totals in their matches against Bangladesh and England, but their bowlers failed to restrict the batsmen and hinder the flow of runs.
Imran, who rated the Indian team as the favourites to lift the coveted trophy has said, “India’s bowling has been exposed against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 and I think their biggest problem now is to find a potent bowling combination to carry them through to the final.”
The man who led the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket team in the 1992 World Cup concluded that with the Subcontinent conditions, even a score of 300 and more can be chased if you do not have a good bowling combination.
The former cricketer asserts that sides should go into a match with five specialist bowlers, as part-time bowlers will be unable to cope with the challenge of bowling in these batting conditions. He also went on to add, that bowlers need to bring some variation
in their attack, if they want to be successful.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 acknowledged Mahindra Singh Dhoni’s leadership and believes that he is someone who brings strength to the Indian side. He tagged Dhoni, as a fearless cricketer, but he advised the wicket-keeper batsman to bring some aggression when using his bowlers.
Ireland shocked the cricketing world when they defeated England on Wednesday, as the team chased down the highest total in World Cup history. Kevin O’Brian was the main-stay in that win, as he scored the fastest century of the tournament.
Khan praised Kevin O’Brian and the Irish cricket team’s effort, he said, “I don't have enough praise for the way Kevin O'Brian batted for his century. He played some of the best cricket shots I have seen in my career. The Irish are a fighting lot and I think
they will cause some more upsets.”
Elsewhere, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kapil-Dev-c70234 the former Indian captain had a different idea, as he wants the men-in-blue to go with a bowling combination that includes two genuine bowlers and three all-rounders.
Kapil agrees with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-c64193 on the point that the weak link in the Indian team’s game, is their bowling attack. He thinks that they can still lift the trophy, but for that, they should not lose heart and keep on performing well, irrespective of the result.
The skipper of the 1983 World Cup winning side wants his countrymen to learn from their mistakes that they made against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749. The Indian bowlers were smashed all around the park in the match against England and even after scoring a mammoth total they
ended up with a draw. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453 has had a quite start to his World Cup campaign.
The men-in-blue will face http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
