Imran Khan says Pakistan played like pussycats in the ICC World Cup 2011 semi-final against India
Former Pakistan captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Khan-c64237 has slammed Pakistan cricket team for playing negative cricket in the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2011 against India.
Imran feels that the Men in Green had the Indian team on the mat but they let them go off the hook by playing defensive cricket.
Imran was the captain of Pakistan team which won the World Cup back in 1992 and he popularly asked his team to fight like ‘cornered tigers’ and eventually won the World Cup from almost an impossible situation.
The cricketer-turned-politician of Pakistan feels that the Men in Green were not tigers in the recently concluded tournament and instead termed them ‘p***y cats’ for the brand of cricket they played in the showpiece event.
The former Pakistan captain said that India were in huge trouble at one stage when 4 of their wickets were down for only 141 runs on the board. He feels that Pakistan should have applied more pressure on the Indian batsmen at that time but they did not and
poor fielding made matters worse.
Imran said, “They were p***y cats instead of being tigers. Unfortunately, India I thought played really badly. Except for Sehwag, their batting was very shaky, they were tense and were reeling under the pressure. Pakistan had them on the ropes at 120-130
for four wickets and that is where they should have been like a pack of wolves.”
There was a lot of hype in both India and Pakistan before the epic encounter at Mohali and naturally the fans from both sides of the border wanted their team to win.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 lost the match by
29 runs in the end.
“I don’t mind you lose when you give your best, you fight till the last ball but I hate it when you lose timidly as we did. It left a bit of a depression. I thought they could have done much better,” http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-c64193 added.
