http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-c64193 Tahir feeling confident after his meeting with Abdul Qadir - Cricket News Update
South African leg-spinner, Imran Tahir, is confident ahead of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 series, hoping that his experience of the English conditions will hold him in good space in the forthcoming series. In his quest for perfection, the Lahore-born bowler has even turned
towards his long-term mentor http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Qadir-c41605 for some useful tips to help his bowling.
In his seven Tests, Tahir has yet to meet expectations after he was predicted to be the long awaiting answer to South Africa’s spin crisis. He has taken 18 wickets at an average of 37.05 however, one reason for his slow progress has been attributed to the
unhelpful pitches on which he has been asked to bowl. Still, the player is optimistic of his chances in England, hoping to make a significant impact as his team looks to reach to the summit of Test cricket.
To his advantage, the 33-year-old is no stranger to English conditions as he has spent more than a decade playing for various counties and clubs, and is certain to utilise his prior experience to his advantage.
“July and August is the best time to bowl (for spinners) in England. I’m really looking forward to the Oval because that is a ground where I might get a bit of extra spin. I have to get into the team first and if I am selected then hopefully I can do my
best,” he said.
Tahir felt a boost in his confidence after spending 11 days with Abdul Qadir, who is a former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 legend and the second highest wicket taking spinner for his country with 236 scalps in 67 Tests. The South African said that instead of discussing technical
aspects of spin bowling, he worked on the mental side of his bowling.
“It was really good, he was very helpful, we talked about the variations that I use and when and how to use them, He didn’t tell me to do anything different just how to use what I have got,” Tahir was talking to reporters in Durban.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 will tour England to play three Test, five One Day Internationals (ODI) and three T20Is in July and August.
