Imran Tahir seeks Abdul Qadir’s advice ahead of the England series – Cricket News Update
South Africa’s leg-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and in order to enhance his skills before the all-important battle; he is going to take the help of legendary Pakistani cricketer, Abdul Qadir.
The Pakistan-born sportsman has played his entire initial cricket for his native country and represented Pakistan Under-19s during various events in the late 1990s. However, after getting disheartened due to continuous ignorance by the selectors, the leg-spinner
moved to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in 2006.
The right-arm leg-spinner hails from Lahore, which is also the city of great Abdul Qadir, who is considered to be one of the best wrist-spinners in the history of the game, along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Keith-Warne-c89672. Ironically, Tahir’s house in Lahore is in ‘Dharampura’, Abdul
Qadir’s residential area.
Tahir expressed that he has idealised the great spinner from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Qadir-c41605 before the series against
the number one ranked Test team of the world.
"He [Qadir] said anytime I need help I should talk to him but I feel it's better if I see him rather than talk to him on the phone. I think he can make me a better bowler than what I am now," said Tahir.
Imran has so far played seven Test matches and five One Day Internationals, in which he has grabbed 18 wickets at 37.05 runs per scalp. These stats are ordinary but the leg-spinner has the potential to improve on them in the coming months.
The leg-spinner knows that the series against England will provide him a great opportunity to prove his worth at the highest stage of the game and is confident that the time spent with Abdul Qadir could turn out to be vital against England.
"It will be a very big series and if I do something special it will be one of the biggest achievements of my life. I am not very similar but I am almost the kind of bowler which he [Qadir] was in his time so I want to get his help," the leg-spinner added.
