  1. I'm trying to remember when the tramlines were first laid, and I've got a feeling there could've been one around that time -or possibly earlier- running from Boscombe into Bournemouth.  At that time, the inland parts of Boscombe formed the new residential area for the workforce.

    Unfortunately, I can't think which book might help.  However, there's a handy page on the history of trams in Bournemouth.  According to that, the first electric trams ran between Poole and County Gates -that's the roundabout just on the Bournemouth side of the border that Wessex Way feeds into- in 1901.

    That would make the answer to your question sort of yes, but they were still being built.

    I've still got a nagging feeling there was something a bit earlier between Boscombe and Bournemouth, but perhaps it was horsedrawn.
