  1. Check out NASA's NEO (Near Earth Object) program web-page.

If you check out the "close approaches" page, you'll see that we had 9 close approaches during the month of June 2008, and we've had 1 already in July (on the first).

Nothing happened with any of them, so that should ease your mind.

Stuff whizzes by earth all the time, and we ARE monitoring what's out there.  It's very unlikely a meteor of the size you're talking about would hit earth during your life span.

If you need further help, let me phrase it differently:

you have a greater chance of being struck by lightning than you do of dying in an earth/meteor impact.  And getting struck by lighting is something you can prevent (i.e. - stay indoors during storms).

So instead of worrying about something that may or may not happen, but which you have no control over anyway, worry about the things you CAN control and let the rest be.

  2. reallly oh mi god

    im scared now :/

    i dont wanna diee! Looool

  3. They say that it will not hit earth because of the percentage is very low. Well your not the only who is scared to death everyone does. All we can do is have fun until then.

  4. First of all, meteors are caused by really small objects, most no bigger than a pea, which hit the Earth's atmosphere by the hundreds every day and have no noticeable effect.

Secondly, there are no larger objects (asteroids or comets) currently predicted to hit the Earth, according to NASA-JPL's Near Earth Object web site:

    http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/

  5. none that we know of so far

they have a whole program dedicated to near earth objects

  6. Yes both so live your life to the fullest
