In 30 years, will SUVS be as valuable as muscle cars are now?

Back in the 60's and early 70's, muscle cars were all the rage until gas prices went up and then people sold them. And now today, muscle cars are worth upwards of 6 figures.

In the Mid/late 90's up through this year, SUVS were all the rage. And now people are selling them because of skyrocketing gas prices.

That said, do you think 30 years from now some of today's SUVS will be worth $100,000? Why or why not?

  1. No.

People drive muscle cars because they are fun. Fun things cost money and have a following. Tons of car clubs.

People drive a suv because their neighbor bought one so they did also. They are not fun to drive. You don't see as many car clubs with suvs as you do for sports cars.

Also there used to be a lot less people with cars. Some older cars even when new only had a few thousand made. That means even less are left today. Suvs are made by the millions.

  2. Probably sooner when people see just how limited these fuel cell things really are.

  3. no.  muscle cars from the 60's and seventies are popular because they "just don't make 'em like that anymore."  lots of people buy them for the performance, or to show off, or to relive memories from thier teens.  SUV's of today are nothing really special, and they'll soon have ways to make them get better mileage. they won't go away, and therefore won't have the rarity factor the muscle cars have.

  4. No, most SUV's will be crushed, apart from Hummers.

Most SUV's are mass produced and any old joe can own one.

Muscle cars were produced for a select market, and had limited production numbers.

  5. No.

Way too mass-produced. Plus, we drive WAY more than folks did in the 50s/60s/70s.

Some of the special-edition SUVs "might" see increases in value, but I doubt we'll see an H3 pulling six-figures at Barrett-Jackson.
