In 5 years, will we still be driving new cars powered by gas? Or will other energies finally be put to use?

I hear vastly different thoughts on this issue.

I hear some experts saying that we will have to live with Oil as our main source of energy for many years to come.

Others are saying that a total shift away from oil could be only a few years away.

What do you think?

  1. Hi, gas in the us is not going away any time soon, government and companies will try to push other type of energy saving technology or conservation  to improve our way of live but will take 20 years or longer to replace all cars, gas stations and many other equipment power by gas, prices  should come down to earth again after election within 6 to 9 month

but manipulation of the market is nothing but another way to get the message across, now we are paying attention, so if you looking to buy a car look for a fuel efficient one that offer what you want and like. good luck.

  2. Definitely for many many more years.

  3. Well there really isn't a right answer to this question, there all mostly opinions, my opinion is that globally the whole world will eventually shift to another fuel source, maybe not completely but atleast majorily. As for here in the states, big oil companies run the country along with big corporations, so they want to keep making as much money as possible so the only way to shift to a different source is with government aid, and unless we elect a president who will work to get this, no the u.s will be stuck with oil for many years to come

  4. Things change slowly. Yes, but every year there will be some new untried, untested thing. It will take at least 20 years to be totally away from Hydrocarbons, and maybe not then .
