In 8-ball pool, can i do a combination shot off of my opponent's ball to sink my object ball?

  1. You can use your opponent's balls only if you hit your ball first like a three ball combo


  2. Yes as long as you hit your ball first

  3. You have to hit a ball of your group first, but you can use one of your opponents balls if you're doing, say, a three ball combination.  Or you can hit your ball off of your opponents ball and into the pocket.

  5. No. Not in 8 Ball.  you must strike your own first.  In "Straight Pool" you may make such a shot.  It's called "Carom".

  6. Only if you hit your category of ball first.  If you hit your opponents first you have fouled and they get a ball in hand.

  7. You can use your opponent's ball in a combo, but you have to hit one of your suit first.

  8. All above are correct. You can't use the 8 ball either unless you strike a ball from your group first.
