  1. If you were on the 8 ball (no other balls of your category left) and made the pocket and the cue ball is still on the table (you didn't scratch) then you won the match.  If you pocketed the 8 ball and still had balls of your category on the table you lost the match.

  2. Not sure what rules everyone is referring to. However, in straight up 8 ball if you drop the 8 and do not foul, you win. If you are playing tournament rules, You must call your shot. If you call the 8 and it drops and you call the opponents ball and have not fouled, you win the shot. Many leagues create rules that vary. Generally this is done to leverage the playing field. Such as the one gents league that stipulates you can not pocket an opponents ball. This takes away a certain level of skill from the game because it prohibits an experienced  player to use the entirety of the playing surface and field to play an otherwise legal shot. Pool is like every other game, you learn to shoot both defensively and offensively. One without the other is going to leave you racking them all the time.

  3. You win

  4. If you called and made the 8 the way you wanted, and only the opponents ball went in the pocket, NOT the cue ball, you are the winner.

  5. Depends on which rules you are playing.

I play in two separate leagues, in one you would win and in the other you would lose.

In one of the leagues I play potting an opponents ball is always a foul and in the other you can pot an opponents ball as long as you pot one or more of your own.

Just think what would happen if the ball you potting wasn't the black and just a normal red or yellow.

If it is illegal to pot your opponents ball then you would lose because your visit hasn't finished until the ball come to rest and you've fouled whilst potting the black and therefore lose the frame.

If it isn't illegal to pot your opponents ball then you are fine and can say you have won.

  6. Tell your opponent to get the rack and glue'em up tight.

You called the pocket for the '8', made it and the cue ball stays on the table- you win. The fact that the cue ball then knocked one of your opponent's balls in a pocket has nothing to do the the outcome.

In fact, even if you made your opponent's ball first, and then the '8' goes in behind it, you still win.

    You win, cut and dried.

  7. you made the eight? you didn't scratch but the cueball knocked in your opponents last ball? i'm assuming you called your shot, yes? you win....okay, i'll rack...

  8. As long as you called the pocket the 8 went in to and didn't foul (didn't pocket the cue ball or jump it off the table, etc), you win.
