  5. Restaurants have cooks as well and hotels, the good ones, have chefs. The difference is the amount of qualifications and training they have. The fish and chip shop will usually have a cook. In America I believe they call them Short Order Cooks.

  9. They're chefs in hotels too my husband would be gobsmacked if you called him a cook.  I would say the fish and chip person is a fry cook.
