Whats Your Opinion

Ok I'm In DEP for The Air Force & My AFQT for the ASVAB was 51 - my score was too low for any electrical jobs, mechanical jobs, and I was 2 points off for 2 or 3 Jobs I wanted in the General Field.. & They Aren't Taking Any Admin Jobs Right Now & Thats The Area I did best in on the ASVAB..

I'm currently waiting on an job opening and I already gave her my list. Since it was taking a while for a job opening I had mentioned to my recruiter that I might want to do security forces and I think her and the guy over her are waiting on me to put security on that job list lol... Sec forces wasn't my original choice for a job though... & i've been in DEP since june 27 and every week that I talk to her I'm being told that there waiting on a job opening... so I'm seriously considering sec forces

So, should I go security forces? I'm in Jacksonville, FL and I want to get out of this city like a.s.a.p. Since sec forces is a critical needs field I'm pretty sure that they would find a job opening really fast and get me out really soon. I've talked with a guy who did sec forces in the AF and he had mixed feelings about it... some good days some bad days you know... he said overall if he had to do it again he think about it.. but he said he didn't really regret it though..

what do you think... do you know anything about sec forces in the AF or anybody who's been through it? any feedback would be appreciated

  1. My husband's in security forces, and its not the absolute most terrible job in the military, but it isn't the best. You'll deploy a little more then you would with other jobs, but they'd get you in a base and every pretty quick. And it seems to be a pretty enjoyable job.  You have to have some patience to deal with some of the **** they put you through though. Plus, it also all depends on what kinda base they stick you at. But hey if you have anymore questions about it though, you can email me at theeastermuffin@yahoo.com and I can let my husband take a look and anwser them a little better, he's been in for a year now so he knows just about how it all works.
