In Aircraft Assembly, What Is The Name Of The Giant Tooling Jig That Joins The Wings To The Fuselage?

I also want to know how long it takes to fit the engines onto the wing pods ?

  2. It is a wing jig,(I'm not familiar with any slang or acronym for it)

    It takes approximately 8 to 12 hours to mate the engine to the wing pylons.

  3. Usually referred to as 'wing to body join.'

    The engine to strut attachment doesn't take very long- remember that airlines have to be able to REMOVE the engines in a reasonable amount of time.

  4. Would assume an overhead crane, but is just a guess.  A picture might help.  Seems your question has the answer in it already.  JIG.  About the engines?  Guess it could take a few hours.  Have seen it done where I worked at allot.
