In Australia, Football is AFL not Rugby

I'm tired of living in queensland! they call football rugby! Especially in north Queensland where u meet real aussies, stubbies, blue singlet and thongs.

If you look in any Australian Dictionairy Football is defined as Australian Football leauge!!!!

So to all you people outthere call a spade a spade, call Rugby: Rugby, or leauge or Union.

I'm tired of people tarninshing the game I love, the game I grew up playing in the mud as a kid in Southern Perth.

My team is the West Coast Eagles.

Btw I have nothing agianst RUGBY, i never saw a point to it for a long time but its a good game

The game is a derivative of Irish Gaelic Football.

So we call it AFL.

It's not very popular where I live.

To be fair, football is really soccer.  Rugby is rugby. league is league and aussie rules is aussie rules.  If you ever go to Australia and yo say you play football, you should expalin yourself

In the eastern states, NSW and Qld, footy is accepted as being rugby league, though rugby enthusiasts will also go to the footy to watch rugby.

If you really want to be a nitpicker, football is accepted internationally as soccer. AFL doesn't get a mention.

Obviously to each his own but rugby has been around longer than "Aussie Rules" so if they want to call it football then fair enough!

MMMMMAAAAATTTTEEEE!!!!!.....Football is what ever it is in the state you live in when in Australia but for the rest of the world football is soccer.

wow you must be really angry, you have posted this for the second time now, i'm just going to say what I said before and a bit more.

ok, vics, get this through your head, NSW and QLD like Rugby league, not aussie rules, its the number one code, so, as its the number one code of Football, they call it "Football".

And they call Rugby LEAGUE, football, not rugby

how about this, your vics stop calling everything Rugby, and we might stop calling this great sport, football

Actually I think that you will find that "football" is actually what is formerly known as soccer.  

AFL is just an Australian derivative of Gaelic Rules played in the backwaters of Australia.

Rugby & Rugby League is known to most by their respective names except when referred to colloquially when they both can be "footie".
