In australia, are there social security numbers given to every person like in the U.S.? Or is there some other form of security in which every person is accounted for?

  1. No there isn't. However we have very strict border control that greatly reduces the number of illegal immigrants. An ID card in various forms has been proposed several times, but it has always been too politically unpopular.
