I am currently getting private instruction from the local airfieldand going for my GFPT with about 5 hrs up. My problem is with the costs of learning going up so much. I am keen to make a career out of it but want to know if cadetships etc are a better way to go. I have a HSC with passes in English and Advanced Maths and geography.

  1. I looked into this myself, and it seems the only methods that cost less than 50k+ are cadetships with companies such as virgin and rex. i think REX was offering them for 25 k but u were then forced to fly for REX, which being a smaller company, has less room foradvancement then Quantus for example. Oh and UniSA has a civil aviation degree, geared towards airlines, but costs 60k that cant be hecs debted.

Your other method of entry is the airforce, but this is bloody hard to get into lol. I went for pilot, passed everything but......the psych! if u decide on this method be sure to act very confident and provide examples of leadership skills, as they knocked me back for not showing signs of leadership, despite "doing very well in the apitude tests". Tell them ur the captain of 12 sports teams, they love that stuff.

Oh and also keep in mind that of all the people that get their CPL around 30% actually renew it.

GOOD LUCK! i gave up on pilot and am now hating my engineering uni course instead. hope u make it.

PS Quantus do some retarded thing where u pay 80 grand, get ur cpl and hope they give u a job. Just to show how much the REX deal saves you. I think it was rex lol.....

The toss below copied me word for word.... what the h**l?
