im just wondering, does anyone know if you need to be married to adopt a child in australia? as you will see from my other question, i cant have children of my own but would love one so my only option is adoption or foster care. im partnered but not married yet will this affect it in any way? we have our own home and my partner has a permanent full time job

  1. Google 'Adoption' / 'Foster Care' - and your state government.

All adoptions/foster cases are handled by each seperate state government.

Not many adoptions are finalised per year - as family preservation is most important in Australia.

There is a huge need for foster carers though - and often you don't need to be married for this.
