In Australia: what advice about getting rid of old computer and electronic materials?

Live in Wollongong but I'd like advice about any schemes throughout Australia

  1. I don't live in Australia but I would think you should recycle it.


  2. contact the woollongong council, and ask them if they have a recycling service for electrical goods.

    if you go into a post shop _australia post_ they have postable bags to put old mobile phones and batteries in to be recycled.

    good luck

    or, if the goods work, see if a school or church or day care or seniors centre could use them.

    op shops wont accept them

  3. your council should generally have its own schemes for recycling electronic items

    alternatively, you could offer things on freecycle (international, with groups in most towns or areas) - as a moderator on my group, there are a few people who take in broken computers etc, make new whole ones out of them and pass them on to charity etc
