In Australia where does the sun rise?

Question

I asked my mum and she keeps on answering where the sun rises in the Philippines!

If you know please answer, it would be a very big help!

The question has relevance only if the Earth is flat sheet with a distinct strating edge. Earth is round. Before Australia, it rises in Tonga and before that in Peru-Chile and before that in Brazil and Africa earlier to that. Whenever you get such a doubt, look at a globe (buy one if you don't have it) with a light on one side and visualise the situation rather than seeking opinion of a mother who is yet to educate her daughter adequately.

If you live in Australia, just get up earlier and look when the sun rises. Then you will know. If you live in the Philippines, the thing to do is argue about it forever, always seeking the moral high ground overlooking the issue.

The sun rises from the east and sets from the west. In Australia, it`s the same.

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, this is the same for everwhere in the world and both hemispheres, unless you get very close the one of the polls in which case it may stay up for several months in the summer and not come up at all for several months in the winter.
