1. I remember all of these !!! Quid = £1 so technically still exists but it is slang term. Shilling is now the equivalent of the 5p piece. Guinea still used but only among the horseracing fraternity. They still buy and sell reace horses in this manner. 1 Guinea = £1 and 1 shilling. Therefore £1.05 today. Tanner was a sixpence, a silver coin slightly larger than the 5p of today. It was worth haldf the shilling so today = 2 and half pence. But half pence no longer exists unless you are buying and selling shares. Sterling is the currency we use in UK.

  2. Quid is now a£1 coin

Shilling is now the 5p piece

Tanner no because 6d (6 old pence) is now 2 and a 1/2p

Florin is now the 10p piece

Half crown no longer exists (it was 2s 6d)

Crown is now the 50p piece

    Does that help?

  3. Pound Sterling is the correct name for the British currency. The other names haven't existed since decimalisation in the 70's. Apart from quid which is a slang term for the pound.

  4. Shilling - no

    Quid...slang for £1 so yes

    Guinea...still used when buying a horse(really!)

Sterling is the name of out currency (most of the Eu use Euro's)

The rest no...we went "decimal" in 1970 so they are no longer used
