I know that the beloved and famed Disney musical was replaced by "The Little Mermaid" at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater and no longer plays, but I still want to know how the actor playing the beast could change his costume while suspended in the air covered only by a thin blanket.

  1. In the actual Broadway production the Beast changes after he let's Belle go (he'll change during "A Change in Me" and Mob Song"). The Beast you see during the battle sequence is actually a double.

  2. I am guessing it is similar to how magicians make their assistant disappear and a lion appear. Or how they make a Boeing747 disappear.

I am guessing smoke/mirrors  hide him as he is actually moving in and out of position on the stage and possibly changing places with a costumed stand in beast before rising in the air.

Or its because Belle finally sees the man inside the beast an her love transforms him!!!

  3. okay, there are several ways

    the most common is this

    - the real beast walks over to wear the fog is the thickest where a double or the prince is hiding. The double runs out and happily ever after!

    the hardest way is this

    - there is an extreme time pressure but the beast wipes of all og the makeup and all the other stuff

and kinda easy kinda hard way is

    - the beast uses makeup in the first act but uses a mask and prosthetics(fake stuff) and he rips them off under the cloud !

interestin huh. Weird cause i just asked a question about beauty and the beast cause i just got lefou!

    hope this helped
