  1. It is done all the time, based on the staffing needs of the company you work for. Yes, it's legal to change your work hours and require overtime if necessary. Check your employee handbook, most will include the sentence: "The employer reserves the right to change work schedules, require overtime ...." something like that.


  2. I do it all the time.

    It's called "operational need" and I schedule or unschedule or change schedules to fit the ever-changing requirements of our customer.

    and I do this within the confines of a union environment, so yeah, they can pretty much schedule you however they need you to get the job done.....unless, you have a signed contract specifying your work hours which would have to be honored. but I doubt you have that.
