In California what do you do if you want to fire someone but they won't come in to work. ?

  1. Have you tried calling them?! Is there emergency contacts? maybe something happened to them...?


  2. So, you want to fire someone, but they will not come to work so you can fire them?

    It seems to me they have abandoned their job.

    If they don't come to work are  you paying them sick leave?

    When that runs out then you can stop their pay and benefits, they have fired themselves.  

  3. You need to wait an appreciable amount of time, you have to suspend them first, so just a call I believe would work  Go through all of the paperwork and make sure that everything is covered.  Fire them under job abandonment.  Mail them their final check with a professional letter stating your intentions.

    If you have a corporate headquarters, get them involved.

  4. Check for provisions on job abandonment.  

  5. Send a letter to their home address.
