  1. In canada, you often do not need any education past highschool to work in preschool settings. Sometimes just experienced with kids. What is your university degree? If it is in a teachable subject, then you would only need one year of teachers "college" though it is actually a bachelors degree from a university.

  2. If you would like to work professionally in an ECE (early childhood education) setting, you need to get certified in a community college. There are a number of good programs across the country - and most will give you credit for some of the university credits that you have taken. The program is 2 to 3 years and includes placements.

Kindergarten are certified teachers - not ECE. The salary is a lot higher. You need to have a bachelor degree and then apply to teacher's college - a one year program at universities across the country. This also includes practicums and will lead to certification. Once you are certified in one province, it is pretty easy to move around - just costs money to transfer certification.

If you check with the ministry of education in the province that you would like to teach, you can get lots more info.

    Best of luck!
