  1. Sure is. And we have snow all year round. And we live in igloos. We have no schools. But we got the best beer in the world.

  2. You know, I just moved here two months ago and I have yet to see eating utensils up here...........actually, they don't live in houses either.  Seems they're pretty "pre-historic" north of the 49th!

    You dork.

  3. not at all, it's depends on people

  4. It depends.  Having bad manners is not respecting others.  You need to adjust to your surroundings.

Chinese people for example in a chinese restaurant pick up their bowls and scoop food out into their mouths.  This is considered bad manners in a Canadian restaurant.

In a Canadian restaurant all bowls and plates stay on the table.  Food is brought to the mouth in appropriate sizes to fit a mouth (cut by a knife).  This way food is not dripping or running down the side of a face.

If I saw people doing this in a Canadian restaurant I would be offended because these people are not respecting my views.

If I walked into a room where the population is predominatly Chinese, then I would expect these people to eat according to their culture.  Any expression of disgust on my part would not be respecting their views.  If I am too offended to eat there, I would leave, not them.

If the room is predominantly Canadian, spoons are used for soups, stirring coffee / tea, or young children who have not yet mastered forks and knives.  Forks and knives are the norm.

As an aside, most of our table manners are derived from British traditions.  Some of us still change hands for example after cutting meat so that only the right hand is used to place food into our mouths.  This is slowly coming out of style.

  5. Yes.  Canadians eat everything directly off the knife.

  6. Na! the good manners here in Canada you have to use only your hand Ha, Ha, Ha just joke but if you eat a club sandwich it's a bad manners to use spoon or fork or knife

  7. yes canadiens hate that! just kidding I have no idea. I don't take offence

  8. What???

  12. who cares its CANADA!they suck!

  13. eating what? Spaghetti? It would be weird if it was toast but not if it is Vietnamese food... Depends

  14. It should be societies to-do thing to only use real silverware, perhaps people should start saying plastic disposable is not the thing to do. " Can i trade this plastic fork, I only use real silverware"

  15. Absolutely! We don't bother making dishes for anyone to clean, we eat with our hands and drink out of the containers, yes, we share, so we can get sick pretty often. Most of the time, we just put our food right on our tables too, then get our polar bears to l**k it clean afterwards!

  16. No maybe in japan or china

  17. It is acceptable except when eating whale blubber, grilled raccon, Brazed beaver or moose. Those you must eat only with your hands.

  18. In Canada we use knifes and forks but I have seen forks and spoons used in Vietnamese Restaurants. There is an excellent vietnamese restaurant I frequent called 'the green bamboo'. I've seen a lot of people use forks and spoons there and at other vietnamese restaurants. I haven't seen any other cultures do it but I have seen Indians, Tamils and Africans use their hands to eat-particularly roti. As far as manners go-I think it's a cultural thing so it's not bad manners.
