In Cancun what is the Cenote do you have to know how to swim to to be there?

because i don't know how to swim at all and what is the Cenote is it salty water or river water and is it drinkable ?

Cenote is an underground river like a cave that is wet, it is fresh water until it meets the ocean then it would mix with the salt water, I woulnt drink it, and you could wear a snorkle vest and not know how to swim and be ok, it is colder water than the ocean, about 75 degrees.
