In Casino Royale, did James Bond really give the dealer a $500,000 tip?

He gave the dealer one of the red rectangular chips, which was worth $500,000 if I'm not mistaken.

What's the deal with that? Half a million dollars for a tip? And for just dealing a few cards? I wouldn't have given him more than $1000.

And the dealer's reaction is just to say "Thank you very much"???!! I'd be hugging and kissing him!

  1. I saw the movie i loved it.  I cant remember i think he was supposed to tip large like that to appear that he wasnt governmentally staked.  My advice is if you dont know... watch that movie again!!!


  2. Well Bond had just won over $100 million and he wouldn't receive the money anyway, it would just go into the coffers of the treasury.

    Ironically, as the money was to be paid by electronic transfer there would be no caisse, and so the dealer would not be able to transfer the plaque into money as only Bond could get the funds by putting in his password. Maybe he knew this?!
