can a king jump his own player? thanks :)

  2. The only time the king can "jump" is when a specialty move is performed called castling. This is done when the space between the king and either the king's rook(castle) or the queen's rook is empty. If the king doesn't pass through check or is placed into check the king moves 2 spaces the direction of the rook it is castling with and the rook occupies the space the king "jumps".   12. No.  The King can move one square in any direction.  If a square is occupied by an unprotected opposing piece, the King may take it.  If a square is occupied by a friendly piece, the King may not move there.

    In the case of castling, castling can only happen when there are no pieces between the King and Rook the King is not in check, will not land in check at the end of the move and does not move over a square attacked by a hostile piece.
