  1. In order of succession and importance:

    KING (1): The king can only move one square at a time - forward, backward, and diagonal.

    QUEEN (1): The queen moves as many squares as wanted - forward, backward, and diagonal.

    BISHOPS (2): The bishop moves as many squares as wanted - only diagonally though.

    KNIGHTS (2): The knight moves in an L-shape - either one square up and two over, or two up and one over.

    ROOKS (2): The rook moves as many squares as wanted - forward, backward, or to either side (right or left).


  2. 1 KING: can only move one square at a time-forward, backward, diagonal

    1 QUEEN: moves as many squares as wanted/needed-can move forward, backward and diagonal

    2 BISHOPS: move as many squares as wanted/needed-diagonally

    2 KNIGHTS:  move in an L shape- one square up/two over or two up/one over, can jump over other pieces

    2 ROOKS: move as many squares as wanted/needed forward/backward or side to side
