  1. Of all the time lords, only Rassilon had the secret of immortality. The rest, the doctor included, could regenerate 12 times = 13 lives. The Master however managed to 'cheat' the system and get in more than his allowed number though he almost destroyed Gallifrey in one of his attempts to do so.

  2. It's true, they only get 12 regenerative cycles, meaning they get 13 "lives", including their first before they ever regenerate.

Then again, the Time Lord calling himself "The Master" has circumvented this restriction so we can't claim with any amount of certainty that the BBC won't allow the Doctor to do the same.

A Time Lord can be permanently killed by a 'staser', a weapon designed to both kill and prevent regeneration.

  3. He's not completely immortal. He can die if he is unable to regenerate properly or quick enough eg. if both of his hearts are destroyed.

  4. i think that he can die but he has to be killed i think. cuz once he gets so old he regenerates or something and becomes young again.

  5. Relative to humans he is. Normally, he would regenerate 12 times giving a total of thirteen lives. For cautious Time Lords, the lifespan is 2000+ years.

In the Five Doctors, the Master was promised a new regeneration cycle if he helped the Doctor, so theoretically, Time Lords can be immortal.

Also, if a Time Lord gets stabbed in both hearts or has a mortal injury, they won't regenerate.
