In Dutrow's Interview....?

of course I know he was upset, but I thought he was very curteous.

However, do you think he sounded like he might be upset with Kent?

I really hope it was just that he was upset with the whole outcome...and not at Kent because I feel that Kent did the best thing for the horse and could very well have saved him, at least from something.

Is Kent going to be hurt in this, in anyway?? I mean, of course other than the loss on what he has called the best horse he has ever ridden him second guessing himself, because we know he will - he says he still does about the race 10 years ago!

I hope and pray not, and I CERTAINLY don't see him at fault for anything...

  1. I didn't get the impression that Dutrow was upset with Kent. I think he just can't understand what went wrong. I saw worry on his face, not blame.

They'll know more once they do the endoscope.

I hope Kent's career isn't hurt by this. I do realize that he'll second-guess himself because he is a conscientious rider. But I didn't see that he had any other choice but to ease up on Brown. As he said, "I had no horse."  He did what was right for the horse. IMHO, that should be the *first* concern.

  2. For whatever reason, Brown was not ready to run this race. On some other posts people pointed out that the difficulty Kent had getting him to respond in the traffic at the start was a sign that Brown was just out of sorts.  Could also be part because he was off steroids, and also because of the workout adjustments made due to the hoof.  Too bad, he was so impressive in the other races it's just hard to imagine such a good horse having such a bad day.
