We are in Florida, which has some really bizarre landlord/tenant rules. My husband's adult son is refusing to move although we've asked him to. He has said we will have to evict him. However, in 1.5-2 months, we are breaking out lease, moving out of our apartment, and moving into a house. The son has said he is coming with us although we have told him that he is not. My question is, once we have broken the lease and moved, do we maintain any legal responsibility to provide him with shelter?

  1. No,

once you move he's on his own.

  2. You will have to step up and call the police if the son tries and move into the house

side note: if the son does not leave the unit when you two do, the landlord can still considered the place occupied and hold you and your husband liable for the rent until he leaves or the lease ends

  3. You Floridians are some of the oddest folk I have ever encountered. How in the h**l are you going to allow a grown azz man tell you he's going to follow you into your new house? I'm not evengoing to begin to get into this.

  4. It works the same way everywhere.  There's the door, get out.  Providing he is of legal age.

  5. not if he's 18 or older.

  6. Oh h**l no!

If he follows you, call the police and have him charged with tresspassing.
