Why does Stewie talk with the accent he has? And why is it that everyone can understand Brian when he says something and no one can understand Stewie?

  1. it makes him seem smarter.

and I think that people can understand stewie, they just don't give him any credit. like when stewie kills lois, they're having an intelligent conversation

  2. well it has to do with making him sound smart and kind of mocking british guys

  3. to make it funnier i guess.

  4. It's a cartoon. They hear Stewie and understand him, but they just think that he's a baby that's saying what he hears. And Stewie talks with a British accent because the person who voices him is actually one of the creators and just wanted to voice someone.

  5. Stewie is an anomaly in the Griffin Family. Because he seems to rarely have affection for his immediate relatives and is he is always hatching diabolical schemes, he is kind of his own unique character that always sets him apart from the rest of the cast. Because Stewie is Family Guy's most popular character, most would agree the British accent seems to work. His sophisticated demeanor and inflated arrogance also play out well in the more James Bond dialect.

Stewie can be understood by Brian and his younger peers, but he has been understood in various scenes. Especially when he is on stage/performing, having delusions; and taken out of his family setting.  Most of the time this allows Stewie's character to have complete creative freedom to create huge sub-plots of his own.

  6. I've wondered that for a while. Maybe Peter really isn't his father. Maybe his actual father is a British man. As for the second question, I have no idea. Stewie's a baby so it's understandable that no one can understand him, but Brian's a dog, no one should understand him at all. I guess that's just the way that the creator of the show wanted it.

  7. Well...

They CAN understand Stewie!!! (They just ignore him) and the accent was just for the h**l of it! They wanted to make people wonder about it!And brian talks also to make it funny. I mean a smart alcoholic dog in therapy!!! Don't tell me that isn't funny!!!!

  8. To give him an intellectual sound, he is a mad genius in diapers you know.

  9. Stewie talks with a British accent to sound more distinguished /classy and to create a noticeable difference between him and his dimwitted siblings and father. I'm not sure about the second question though.
